| From a romantic standpoint I would like to think that finding true love online is possible, yet the realist in me is somewhat critical. I've heard many tales of woe from single friends who have joined various online dating sites, and who despite shelling out what I consider to be ludicrous amounts of cash for the privelege still continue going back and back in search of Mr Right.
Is Prince Charming really sitting behind a computer desk typing madly away?

| Got just as good a chance of succeeding as meeting them in a crowded bar while under the influence of a couple of drinkies. Maybe more so as there is a greater likelihood of falling in lust with their mind first, rather than their body. | |

| I agree with both points here.
Although from experience finding genuine men is rare. The majority seem to be looking for there next cyber fix lol
I'm still open minded but with a large portion of skeptisim.

| If I was single I actually think I would prefer to take my first tentative steps back into the dating world via the net. Too old for the pub scene and at an age where the women supposedly outrank the men three to one in the single stakes I'd be grabbing opportunities from anywhere I could find them.
My brother had quite a bit of success via RSVP but it was chiefly through putting himself out to attend events and not due to the coupon/match bs that they charged him for.

| Oh good to know Max @RSVP Yeah I agree with you there too... I think I'm getting a bit old for the pick up lines at pubs. If they're not original I usually frown, say no thanks & walk away lol Arghh what's become of my innocence? :looks:   But I do agree with you on the fact that talking to guys online gives you the opportunity to suss there pysche's out & fun too :D The non drinker guy has come back saying he doesn't have a problem with drinkers & thinks I'm making too much out of everything he says what else am I to do but take him for what he's telling me? Argghhh baffled & confused | |

| I'd still be running in the opposite direction hun. A leopard does not change his spots. He's just back pedaling and telling you what he thinks you want to hear I would suspect. | |

| I think the net is wonderful in terms of it allowing you the opportunity to meet, chat and bond with people from all different walks of life that normally you wouldn't have had the chance too. However, that same bonus can turn into a cruel twist of fate when you find yourself clicking with someone who you know down deep in your heart you will never have the opportunity to meet in person.
Can it work? Undoubtedly ... seen it happen for a number of friends now, the majority of which are still going strong quite some time after their first 'reality' meeting.
Me? Nothing will ever replace that first claudestine glance across a crowded room where your eyes meet for the first time.

| I've made some wonderful friends online, but never a love connection. I seem to get stuck with the guys wanting cybersex lol. | |

| i think it is possible, but have to check the people out first, so many are pervs.. probably just me i guess..
mr right? does he exist anyway... just a female delusion fed by media and hollywood fantasy?
i think love is possible from an online beginning, so many shy girls and guys only open up online, so can be safe place to find the real person, before the false date it self.
