| Seeing as there are so many musos onsite, I thought it might be interesting to perhaps find out who plays what and which instrument they found the hardest to master.
Me, I'm totally tone deaf (just ask my better half) but always wanted to be able to play the piano.
How early did you start? Do you read music or play by ear?

| I only play rhythm and lead and interchange between the two. Started at about 8 I think. Mainly play by ear but did musical theory as a kid. Tried bass about 5 years ago and couldn't get the hang of it for the life of me. Was guilty of the notion that it should be easy having two less strings. I stand corrected :lol!: | |

| Can I print off that comment, frame it and post it to Benj mate lol?
Started drums at 6 and dabbled with bass guitar and lead but drumming is where my passion is. Always regret being self taught though. My parents couldn't afford the kit and lessons so it was a matter of watching those people I idolised on tv and trying to copy them. Too set in my ways to go back and have someone tell me my technique ain't quite right now.

| If I send you a pm Luka could you possibly give me some tips on buying a kit for my son? I thought he was too young to start but obviously not. Having heard you play, had no idea you were self taught. Bravo! | |

| No probs Max. Just give us an idea of your budget and whether he has the reach for a full size kit and can probably set him up with a decent second hand one at a fraction of what you'd be expected to pay. | |

| Never too late Mish. All it takes it the passion to take the plunge and pursue it. | |

| I've always felt a pull towards the string instruments (meaning violin etc) but they sound so woeful when you first start learning and at my age I feel a bit self conscious about attempting something new. Also understand that they are quite difficult to master. Perhaps if one of the kidlets shows some interest I can justify the purchase then have a sneaky go when no-one is looking. | |

| Speak to Benj Mish; she's the string expert and didn't pick up a cello until her teens.
I started off on piano, then guitar, bass and finally drums. Wouldn't mind giving sax a go.

| Yeah but you and Benj just pick something up and tinker with it and hey presto you are getting a tune. The rest of us poor sods have to practice until we get blisters before we sound half way decent.
So jealousy is a curse lol. Shoot me.

| pmsl at Chaz My background is actually classical, but somehow I ended up playing bass guitar in a hard rock band with some of these misfits. Someone save me from men in leather | |
